Digital Sustainability Statement

Last updated: March 5, 2026

At Villa Inés, we believe that sustainability also exists in the digital realm. That’s why we are the first vineyard in the world to integrate a digital sustainability dimension into our website, as part of a comprehensive commitment to people and the planet.

The wine and hospitality industry often relies on digitally intensive experiences with video, animations, and resource-intensive graphics. While appealing, this approach can increase energy consumption, the digital carbon footprint, and create barriers to access for users with limited connections or less powerful devices. At Villa Inés, we aim to change this trend: to demonstrate that it’s possible to build an elegant, inspiring, and highly designed space without resorting to excesses that unnecessarily increase environmental impact.

Our vision: design that doesn’t sacrifice people or the planet

Villa Inés sets an example with a website that:

  • It maintains a carefully crafted visual experience that is consistent with the essence of the project.
  • It prioritizes clarity, accessibility, and speed for every visitor.
  • Reduce data and energy consumption with conscious design and development decisions.
  • It is committed to transparency, measuring and communicating its digital impact.

Principles of our sustainable site

To achieve this, we apply practices focused on efficiency, accessibility, and performance, such as:

  • Lightweight by design: we prefer optimized and well-structured content rather than relying on heavy resources.
  • Responsible media: we avoid unnecessary use of video and expensive effects; when visual resources are used, they are optimized to reduce weight.
  • User-centric performance: a fast site improves the experience and also reduces energy consumption.
  • Privacy and simplicity: the site uses basic cookies for essential functionalities and has a contact form to handle requests.
  • Continuous improvement: We regularly review site performance to identify optimization opportunities without compromising aesthetics.

Emissions measurement: EcoWebCO2 Distinction

Sustainability isn’t assumed: it’s measured. Villa Inés estimates its digital emissions using the EcoWebCO2 badge, which transparently communicates the approximate impact of website visits. This badge is based on the latest version of the Sustainable Web Design Model (v4). This measurement serves as a guide for:

  • Make data-driven design decisions.
  • Identify elements that can be optimized.
  • Maintain a digital quality standard that balances expertise and accountability.

Our commitment

We commit to:

  • Maintain a website elegant, functional and responsible.
  • Continuously reduce the impact of each visit through content optimization, performance, and best practices.
  • To promote a broader conversation about digital sustainability in industries where visuals often involve excessive burdens.
  • To be a benchmark that inspires other projects to build more efficient digital experiences.
